Get ready for the Tinkerson family.

Starting Monday, April 8, the Deseret News will replace a comic strip. "Take it from the Tinkersons," a new comic distributed by King Features Syndicate, will take the spot of "Bleeker the Rechargeable Dog" Monday through Saturday in the comics pages.

The Tinkerson family is made up of dad Ted, a family man and the primary breadwinner; no-nonsense mom Tiff, a stay-at-home mother; son Tillman, a third-grader who would rather watch reality TV shows than apply himself in school; and daughter Tweetie, a moody and temperamental tween. Oh, and there's a dog, of course: Tubby, who pounces on food when he's not napping.

"Take it from the Tinkersons" is written and drawn by Bill Bettwy, who began creating comic strips in high school. In 2008, he started producing editorial cartoons for his local newspaper, the Altoona Mirror in Pennsylvania. He is married, and he and his wife have a daughter and twin boys.

Although the comic isn't starting until tomorrow, the debut week of "Take it from the Tinkersons" is being reprinted here so readers won't miss any of the strips.

We welcome feedback, and you can let us know what you think of the Tinkersons by sending an email to comics@desnews.com.
