MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — Sophomore Ana Kobal registered her second consecutive top-six finish and the University of Utah ski team sits in fourth place after the slalom races of the NCAA Championships Friday in the Middlebury College Snow Bowl.
Utah finds itself in fourth place in the overall team standings with 481 points, but only trails third-place Denver by three. Colorado is currently the runner-up with 510 points, while Vermont paces the field with 564 points.
DIXIE STATE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: At Azusa, Calif., Skye Savini totaled 23 points and Susannah Walmsley added 15 as Hawaii Pacific defeated Dixie State 88-74 in the semifinals of the Pacific West Conference Women's Basketball Tournament. Johnna Brown led Dixie State with 20 points on 7 of 9 shooting.
BYU GYMNASTICS: At Cedar City, Megan Bain tied a career high with a 9.900 on the balance beam as BYU scored a season-best 195.875 to top Southern Utah's 195.425 in Centrum Arena. The Cougars' season high is their best score since the 2008 season.
UTAH BASEBALL: At Moraga, Calif., Utah sophomore pitcher Mitch Watrous tied the school record with 12 strikeouts in a game in a 3-1 win.
UTAH VALLEY BASEBALL: At Orem, Stone Ramsey's two-out RBI single in the bottom of the eighth brought home the game-winning run as UVU edged Nevada 6-5.
UTAH VALLEY SOFTBALL: At Fayetteville, Ark., UVU could muster just one in a 3-0 loss.
