In an interview with the NFL network, San Francsico 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick praised former starter Alex Smith's leadership.
"Whether Alex is with us or he's somewhere else next season, he's been a great teammate to me," Kaepernick said. "[He's] been a great friend, a great mentor. So anywhere he goes, or if he's still with us, he's gonna be successful."
Smith completed 70 percent of his passes but lost the starting job to Kaepernick after suffering a concussion against the Saint Louis Rams. Earlier this week the 49ers reportedly agreed to trade Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs, but the deal cannot be made official until March 12.
