Boys basketball

REGION 5

LOGAN 58, ROY 32: Jordan Larsen drained five treys on his way to 24 points as the Grizzlies closed the game on a 13-4 run.

MOUNTAIN CREST 56, BONNEVILLE 41: Tanner Knowles helped Mountain Crest to the region victory with his 18 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Mason Rich had 17 points in the Bonneville loss.

BOX ELDER 72, SKY VIEW 69: Shad Watson torched the nets for 36 points, including five 3-pointers to lift Box Elder over Sky View. Jalen Moore finished with 26 points, while Ty Nielsen added 22 points in the loss.

REGION 17

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 94, MOUNT VERNON 22: Leroy Sisnett helped LCA to a 72-point victory by contributing 18 points.

INTERMOUNTAIN CHRISTIAN 69, OAKLEY 36: Zach Paige helped ICS pick up a final region victory with a 31 point effort on the road. Will Green and Mikey Boettger combined for 24 points in the winning effort.

REGION 21

TABIONA 60, ALTAMONT 53: Monte Clyde led three Tigers in double figures with 19 points.

NONREGION

KANAB 63, MILLARD 50: Kanab advanced in the Region 13 play-in game to earn a berth in the 2A playoffs.

WATERFORD 35, ROWLAND HALL 29: Christian Mason and Alex Millet each scored eight points, and Waterford advanced in the Region 14 play-in game behind a 10-2 fourth-quarter run.

Girls basketball

1A PLAYOFFS

ST. JOSEPH 51, WAYNE 35: After a close first half, St. Joseph pulled away from upset-minded Wayne with a dominant 26-12 second half to remain perfect on the season. Liz Tomon was outstanding for the Jayhawks, finishing with 27 points and 13 rebounds.

MILFORD 55, GREEN RIVER 46: Leading by three entering the fourth quarter, Milford pulled away from Green River with a strong fourth quarter for the first-round victory. Tia Florence scored 15 points while Chandler Rose added 12 for the Tigers. Michaela Hughes led Green River with 13 points in the loss.

MONTICELLO 37, WENDOVER 26: Shania Deanda and Zoe Chadwick each scored nine points as Monticello built a 13-3 lead after the first quarter and never looked back on its way to a 1A first-round victory at the Sevier Valley Center.

RICH 41, PANGUITCH 39: Emma Peart put in the game-winning basket with 14 seconds remaining to lift Rich past Panguitch in the first round of the 1A playoffs.

ESCALANTE 66, MONUMENT VALLEY 46: Escalante stepped up in the first round of the 1A playoffs, scoring 21 points in the second quarter to slip past Monument Valley. Lindsey Phillips scored a game-high 39 points, as the Moquis handed the 16-4 Cougars their first loss in nearly three weeks.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 40, DUCHESNE 38: Teneshia Davison and Shayla Simpson each scored 15 points, as Layton Christian held on late for victory in the 1A playoffs. Shayla Giles led Duchesne with 11 points in the loss.

MANILA 45, TINTIC 19: Ashlee Hullinger was the only player in the game to score in double figures, finishing with 10 points in the 1A playoff victory. Janell Reed and Rebecca Collett each scored nine points for the Miners.

PIUTE 67, INTERMOUNTAIN CHRISTIAN 21: Shaylee Gleave led Piute to the first-round playoff victory with 20 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. The T-Birds also shot 13-for-18 from the free-throw line, including 15 points from Kierra Gleave.

REGION 9

HURRICANE 57, CANYON VIEW 42: Brooklyn Gubler led all scorers with 29 points, and Hurricane zipped past visiting Canyon View, in part due to a 19-7 fourth quarter run.

DESERT HILLS 65, PINE VIEW 24: Haley Bodnar scored 17 points, and Desert Hills improved to 19-2 on the season by holding Pine View to single-digit scoring in all four quarters.

CEDAR 56, SNOW CANYON 52: Courtney Morley and Taylor Davis combined for 30 points to lead Cedar past Snow Canyon for its 10th region win of the season.
