Here's a recap of the 80-plus boys and girls high school basketball games across the state on Friday.
DAVIS 78, SYRACUSE 62: Davis had a solid outing as it defeated Syracuse by double digits on the road. Led by Jesse Wade who scored 20 points, the Darts improved their record to 11-1 and secured the victory in their first region game of the year.
NORTHRIDGE 64, LAYTON 59: Davy Adams scored nine points in the fourth quarter to guide Northridge to the region win at home. Preston Christensen had a game-high 19 points and the Knights drilled eight 3-pointers.
WEBER 57, FREMONT 31: Weber's Mason Miles was outstanding from behind the arc as he drained five 3-pointers en rout to 15 points. Hayden Schenk also contributed greatly to the Warriors' victory as he scored a game-high 18 points while dishing out seven assists.
COPPER HILLS 58, COTTONWOOD 41: Copper Hills defeated Cottonwood as it had a hot start, outscoring Cottonwood 17-6 in the first quarter. The trio of Austin McCombs, Darius Maluia and Danny Martinez led the Grizzlies as they combined for 41 points.
JORDAN 64, WEST JORDAN 62: Chandler Smith drained a 15-footer with 1.5 seconds left to send Jordan ahead and capture the win. Smith ended with 14 points while teammate Jonas Jones scored 15 points including three 3-pointers. As a team, the Beetdiggers made nine treys compared to the Jaguars' four.
BRIGHTON 61, ALTA 59: Brighton overcame an 11-point deficit in the final 3:33 to rally for the impressive region-opening victory at Alta. Travis Devashrayee hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 23 seconds remaining, and then Alta failed to get a shot off in its final possession. Brandon Miller led Brighton with 17 points, with Zach Bernardo adding 16.
AMERICAN FORK 73, LEHI 49: American Fork's Ryan Andrus scored a game-high 20 points and Tyler Rawson added 13 points to help propel the Cavemen over Lehi. Despite the loss, Frank Jackson led the Pioneers with nine points.
PLEASANT GROVE 71, BINGHAM 65: Pleasant Grove had four players finish in double-digits, led by Riley Court with 24, as the Vikings held on to get the road win over the Miners. Despite the loss, Brandon Morley and Braxton McKee combined for 37 points for Bingham.
ROY 54, BOX ELDER 53: David Hadley hit a driving layup to send Roy ahead with 3.6 seconds left as the Royals earned the victory. Roy's Brekkott Chapman scored a game-high 28 points and Box Elder's Shad Watson led his team with 16 points in the loss.
SKY VIEW 73, BONNEVILLE 53: Clinging to a four point lead at halftime, Sky View shot out of the gates to begin the third quarter and picked up a win with a lack of drama. Jalen Moore dropped 29 points and Ty Nielsen added 14.
EAST 59, WOODS CROSS 58: Mitch Grant sank five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 27 points, while Parker Van Dyke added 16 points to help East escape Woods Cross and get the win. Skylar Farnes led the way for the Wildcats with 16 points.
BOUNTIFUL 48, CLEARFIELD 43: Bountiful held off visiting Clearfield to capture the Region 6 victory. Sam Merrill put the team on his back as he scored 20 points. Teammate Zach Seljaas added 12 points.
OLYMPUS 71, HILLCREST 47: Jake Lindsey led all scores with 19 points and Coulson Hardy hit three 3-pointers and scored 14 points to help push Olympus past Hillcrest. JT Ekberg led the way for the Huskies with 14 points.
MURRAY 54, SKYLINE 44: AJ Hodges hit three treys and scored a game-high 15 points while Bo Shipley added nine points to help fuel Murray past Skyline. Despite the loss, John Boyden led the Eagles with 13 points.
WESTLAKE 64, HERRIMAN 57: Westlake picked up the road win, despite giving Herriman numerous opportunities at the charity stipe, behind Jake McCord's 26 points. David Maynard scored 28 points with five treys for the Mustangs.
MAPLE MOUNTAIN 39, MOUNTAIN VIEW 34: Maple Mountain's well-balanced scoring attack led the Golden Eagles to victory over Mountain View. Josh Phelps scored a team-high nine points, while Nate Guymon and Jaren Hall each scored seven to fuel the Golden Eagles.
OREM 74, SPRINGVILLE 54: Orem jumped out to a 22-12 lead by the end of the first quarter and did not slow down from there. The Tigers ended up defeating the previously undefeated Springville by 20 points thanks to very balanced scoring. Five players scored in double-figures led by Jordan Darger who scored 18 points.
PROVO 59, SALEM HILLS 33: Provo slowly but surely expanded its lead and ultimately defeated Salem Hills in a Region 8 match-up. Cole Gordon led the way with 17 points while Brian Carter added 13 points.
DIXIE 70, PINE VIEW 55: Blake Barney led Dixie with 21 points as it defeated Pine View. Dixie had a big second and fourth quarter to pull away from the home team.
CEDAR 51, SNOW CANYON 49: Dustin Staggs grabbed an offensive rebound and made the put-back lay-up with two seconds remaining to secure the win for Cedar. Mike Hourigan led the way for the Redmen with 14 points, while Staggs added 11 points to power Cedar.
MORGAN 73, GRANTSVILLE 53: Morgan easily defeated Grantsville thanks in large part to Jake Miles who scored 27 points and drained six shots from behind the arc. Teammate Cameron Skinner added 11 points.
BEN LOMOND 59, OGDEN 35: Ben Lomond had four players reach double-digits, led by Josh Hardin with 19, as the Scots got the road victory over Ogden. Despite the loss, Spencer Smith drained four treys and led the Tigers with 18 points.
SPANISH FORK 53, CARBON 50: Behind a balanced attack and a gutty second half effort, Spanish Fork squeezed past Carbon at home. Four players found double digit scoring figures for the Dons while Derek Young scored 26 in the loss.
PAYSON 55, NORTH SANPETE 35: Payson dominated defensively as it held North Sanpete to five total field goals. In their 20-point victory, the Lions were led by Kaleb Wright and Daniel Reno who each scored 15 points.
PAROWAN 65, MILLARD 44: Parowan earned the double digit victory by shutting Millard down in the second and third quarters. The Eagles were only able to manage 14 total points in the quarters while the Rams exploded for 41 points. Justin Hulet led Parowan with 23 points and three 3-pointers.
BEAVER 42, KANAB 39: Beaver's advantage at the free-throw line helped the Beavers get the road win over Kanab. Michael Roberts led the way for Beaver with 17 points and Hadin Jones led Kanab with 13 points.
RICHFIELD 53, SAN JUAN 47: Richfield, despite a four-point second quarter performance, clawed its way to a gritty win at home. The Wildcats converted on 19-of-21 free-throw attempts and Josh Henry poured in 16 points.
SOUTH SEVIER 72, GRAND 34: South Sevier hit 12 total 3-pointers in the win against Grand. Race Parsons had a great game as he scored 31 points and hit seven of his team's 12 treys. Austin Clark added 18 points and two 3-pointers.
MANTI 63, NORTH SEVIER 36: Jamen Miller drilled five treys and scored a game-high 17 points and T.J. Pogroszewski also contributed 12 points to help give Manti the victory over North Sevier. Trent Hampton led the way for the Wolves with 15 points.
AMERICAN LEADERSHIP 56, MERIT ACADEMY 52: American Leadership outscored Merit Academy 17-8 in the fourth quarter to earn the victory. McKay Bowman scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed eight boards to help the Eagles edge out the Knights.
WASATCH ACADEMY 73, GUNNISON 41: Wasatch Academy had four players score in double-digits, led by Insa Kaba with 16, and the Tigers got the victory over Gunnison. Despite the loss, Drake Reynolds scored a game-high 18 points for the Bulldogs.
WHITEHORSE 75, NAVAJO MOUNTAIN 54: Whitehorse had 13 players reach the box score, led by Daivik Mitchell with 14 points, as it got the win over Navajo Mountain. Despite the loss, Alex Gishie drilled eight 3-pointers and scored a game-high 41 points for the Jaguars.
MONTICELLO 96, MONUMENT VALLEY 52: Gunnar Hollingsworth scored 18 points and was one of five Monticello players to score in double figures in the region rout of Monument Valley.
DUCHESNE 59, MANILA 30: Duchesne held Manila under double digits in the first three quarters to pick up the win. Josh Hanberg scored a game-high 12 points for the Eagles.
TINTIC 65, GREEN RIVER 50: Tintic made 18-of-19 attempts from the charity stripe and used a 21-7 run in the second quarter to earn the victory over Green River. Travis Green and Taylor Hurst combined for 37 points to lead the way for the Miners.
FREMONT 50, WEBER 44: Fremont rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring Weber 20-8, to secure the victory. Amanda Wayment led the way for Fremont with 14 points, while Erin Reichle scored a game-high 22 points for the Warriors, despite the tough loss.
DAVIS 47, SYRACUSE 38: Davis had three players score 10 points each, and despite a slow start offensively, found its rhythm in the second half to pull away from Syracuse. Jessica Richardson, to go along with her 10 points, grabbed 10 boards for the Darts.
KEARNS 60, HUNTER 58: Rosetta Kasala hit a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left to give Kearns the lead that it would not give back as it held on for the win. Kearns led by eight at one point in the fourth quarter but Hunter's comeback just was not enough. Kasala led the Cougars with a game-high 20 points including two treys.
VIEWMONT 57, GRANGER 42: Caitlyn Larsen and Katie Toole each scored 21 points to lead Viewmont to its double-digit victory. The Vikings slowly but steadily expanded their lead through the first three quarters and coasted through the fourth.
EAST 43, WOODS CROSS 42: East used a 15-8 run in the third quarter to grind out the win against Woods Cross. Laina Sue Sue scored a team-high 14 points and Madison Roemer added 13 to fuel the Leopards.
CYPRUS 58, HIGHLAND 41: Cyprus was able to capitalize off the physical intensity of the game, sinking 26 of its 33 free-throw attempts en route to a tough win over Highland. Julie Caputo and Marquessa Gilson combined for 39 points for the Pirates.
HERRIMAN 46, WESTLAKE 42: A strong second-half performance helped the Mustangs edge out Westlake to earn the tough road win. Alexi Smith hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 14 points, while Alexis Duncan added 11 points to fuel Herriman.
SKYLINE 44, MURRAY 33:
SALEM HILLS 54, PROVO 42: Salem Hills easily beat Provo on the road as it made 25 field goals compared to Provo's 11. Missy Belliston scored 17 points to lead the SkyHawks while Erica Egbert added 12.
TIMPVIEW 71, TIMPANOGOS 57: Timpview exploded for 40 first half points and a 20-8 advantage at the end of the first to put away Timpanogos early. Lauryn Dela Cruz led the way with 19 points while nine other players contributed offensively for the T-Birds.
MAPLE MOUNTAIN 57, MOUNTAIN VIEW 49: Led by Aleksa Gappmayer who scored 21 points, Maple Mountain picked up the road victory. Maple Mountain had a huge second quarter, outscoring Mountain View by 10, to give it the edge in the Region 8 match-up.
SPRINGVILLE 51, OREM 39: Malia Nawahine sank four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 22 points to help Springville get the win over Orem and remain unbeaten on the season. Savannah Park and Brooke Wheeler also scored nine points apiece for the Red Devils.
WASATCH 59, UINTAH 49: Rebecca MaWhinney's powerful double-double of 18 points and 12 boards helped propel Wasatch over Uintah. Tristin Bills also drilled a pair of 3-pointers and chipped in 16 points to help the Wasps secure the win.
NORTH SANPETE 47, PAYSON 31: North Sanpete's Keisha Jorgenson and Taylor Gordon combined for 23 points in the close victory over Payson.
CARBON 42, SPANISH FORK 35: Led by Shailee Croasmun and Shelby Cornforth who each scored 11 points, Carbon came up with the narrow victory in region play. Katie Basinger added to the Dinos' cause with nine point including two treys.
SOUTH SEVIER 59, GRAND 18: South Sevier's intense defense led the Rams to victory over Grand. Kallie Fullenbach led the way for South Sevier with 13 points and Shelby Sorensen also chipped in nine points.
MONUMENT VALLEY 64, MONTICELLO 56: Heidi Nelson led all scorers with 23 points and Cassidy Augustine added 12 more in the win for Monument Valley. The Cougars pulled away, in a tightly contested battle throughout, with a big second quarter surge.
WHITEHORSE 88, NAVAJO MOUNTAIN 54: Whitehorse's outstanding offense led to the 34-point victory over Navajo Mountain at home. Rachelle Filfred scored a game-high 27 points. Celeste Lansing added 22 points with six from behind the arc.
PANGUITCH 61, WAYNE 55: Down one going into the fourth quarter, Panguitch played hard in the final period and outscored Wayne by seven to capture the road victory. The Bobcats had very balanced scoring as four players scored in double-digits while one more scored nine points. Taylor Bennett led the group with 14 points.
PIUTE 55, MILFORD 52: Piute found success in the paint during overtime and ultimately claimed the thrilling road win. Tori Gass had 18 points while Kierra Gleave and Shaylee Gleave combined for 25 points.
ESCALANTE 39, BRYCE VALLEY 34: Escalante battled its way to victory behind Lindsey Phillips' 20-point performance.
MANILA 43, DUCHESNE 38: Manila's Janell Reed scored a game-high 16 points and Rebecca Collett chipped in 10 points to lead the Mustangs to the victory. Mashaylee Giles led the way for the Eagles with 10 points.
RICH 43, SOUTH SUMMIT 42: Alisa Petersen drilled a jumper with five seconds left off a nice dish from Alyssa Brown to seal the victory for Rich. Petersen finished with a game-high 17 points in the Rebels' win.
