From Lone Peak's big win in Florida, to Davis' buzzer beater over Olympus, it was a busy Thursday night of high school basketball. Here's a recap of all the boys and girls games.
PANGUITCH 50, WAYNE 37: Panguitch took control of the second half, outscoring Wayne 26-12 to secure the victory. Tyce Barney led the way with 17 points and five boards. Kaden Figgins added 10 points including six assists.
PIUTE 75, MILFORD 47: Tyler Dalton had a solid game for the T-Birds, scoring 22 points en route to a victory. Four other players scored in double figures for Piute.
VALLEY 83, DIAMOND RANCH 66: Colby Spencer tallied 33 points with three 3-pointers while Dallen Esplin added 20 points as Valley dropped 32 points in the final quarter to pull away from Diamond Ranch.
BRYCE VALLEY 70, ESCALANTE 35: Logan LeFevre and Hunter Mecham had 12 points apiece as the Mustangs led 22-9 after the first quarter.
BOUNTIFUL 65, LOGAN 62: Bountiful came out firing on all cylinders and its 15-point halftime lead was too much for Logan to overcome. Sam Merrill led the Braves with 26 points including three 3-pointers.
HIGHLAND 51, COTTONWOOD 36: Highland limited Cottonwood to single digits in three quarters to earn the win.
SAN JUAN 66, AZTEC, N.M. 49: San Juan's Barkley Christensen led the way with 19 points and seven assists. Logan Meyer added 17 points with four boards.
PLEASANT GROVE 73, SPANISH FORK 50: Pleasant Grove's 20-5 run in the second quarter was too much to come back from for Spanish Fork, and the Vikings held on for the win. Pleasant Grove's Matt Conway led all scorers with 13 points.
PINE VIEW 70, SALEM HILLS 64: Pine View defeated Salem Hills in the single digit victory. Kody Wilstead had a game-high 26 points with 17 boards. Dallin Milne added 10 points including two assists.
HUNTER 47, SKYLINE 35: Led by Brandon Davies, who scored 17 points, Hunter was able to capture the road victory over Skyline. Skyline's leading scorer, Alek Johnson, scored all 12 of his points from behind the arc and they all came in the second quarter.
DESERT HILLS 58, MANTI 50: Jordan Hokanson scored 18 points, while Taylor Houston added 12 points and nine rebounds to lead Desert Hills to the victory over a gritty Manti team.
GRANGER 42, MOUNTAIN VIEW 39: Sophomore Mawein Makol led Granger to its first victory of the season by scoring 14 points and adding eight blocks and eight rebounds. Ryan Warner led Mountain View, scoring 18 points including four makes from behind the arc.
DAVIS 46, OLYMPUS 43: With the game tied at 43, Davis' Abel Porter stole the ball, drove down the court and threw up a 3-pointer for the win as the buzzer was sounding as the Darts survived a scare from Olympus to improve to 6-0. Braden Koelliker added 13 points to the victory with one 3-pointer.
JUDGE MEMORIAL 47, KEARNS 33: The Bulldogs pounced on the Cougars in the 14 points victory at home. Terrell Young and Patrick Neville combined for 25 points.
NORTHRIDGE 58, MAPLE MOUNTAIN 54: Maple Mountain was able to outscore Northridge by eight in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime but Northridge was too much in the extra period. The Knights had four players score in double digits led by Preston Christensen who scored 16 points.
OREM 78, WASATCH 48: Zach Hunsaker and Dalton Nixon scored 20 and 18 points, respectively, to lead the Tigers in their blowout win over Wasatch.
TAYLORSVILLE 45, WEST JORDAN 43: Taylorsville sunk two freebies before West Jordan connected on a meaningless 3-pointer as time expired for the solid win. Jevin Warren scored 18 points and Sidney Freeman chipped in 13.
AMERICAN FORK 41, VIEWMONT 39: Brayden Harris hit a basket with about 15 seconds left to push American Fork ahead and ultimately earn the win. Daniel Nyman led the Cavemen with 11 points while Jarom Tye scored a game-high 15 points for the Vikings in the loss.
BISHOP MONTGOMERY, CALIF. 58, BRIGHTON 46: Brighton put up a good fight, but dropped its opening round game of the Mission Prep Christmas Classic in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
LONE PEAK 73, CHESTER, PA. 50: Nick Emery and T.J. Haws both scored 23 points to lead Lone Peak to the surprisingly easy victory over Chester, Pa. at the City of Palms Classic in Florida. Leading by 11 at the half, the Knights outscored Chester 26-14 in the third quarter to halt the Clippers' 61-game win streak. Lone Peak advances to the City of Palms Classic semifinals on Friday.
TIMPVIEW 63, DIXIE 48: Josh Espinoza's 29 points and Leo Roese 26 points with five 3-pointers led the T-birds to a 15 point victory over the Flyers.
LEHI 64, HURRICANE 37: Lehi cruised to a victory in the Red Rock Rumble thanks to a balanced scoring attack. Five players scored in double figures while another scored eight points. The Pioneers were led by Tanner Pittard who scored 13 points.
HERRIMAN 61, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 53: Herriman earned a victory in the Panther Holiday Classic thanks to solid play from Francis Bernard who scored 22 points. Two other players scored in double digits for the Mustangs and another scored nine. Preston Sill led Layton Christian with 20 points.
PAYSON 60, SNOW CANYON 56: Daniel Reno led the Lions with 22 points and three treys as they edged Snow Canyon at the Red Rock Rumble at Dixie State College.
CLEARFIELD 56, ELKO, NEV. 33: The Falcons soared to a 23-point victory over Elko, Nev. in the Panther Holiday Classic. Kyler Moore led the way for Clearfield with 19 points while Marquis Jones added 14.
WEBER 55, HIGHLAND, IDAHO 52: Weber edged out the victory over Highland, Idaho in the Tip Off Classic. Hayden Schenk and Jaren McKnight combined for 31 points and 10 steals.
MANILA 52, FARSON-EDEN, WYO. 22: Manila's intense defense and well-balanced scoring attack led them to victory over Farson-Eden, Wyo. Rustyn Burnside led the Mustangs with 14 points.
DESERT PINES, NEV. 63, PROVO 58: Despite the loss on its home floor in the Provo Tip Off Classic, Provo four players score in double figures. Adam Finch scored 19 points on four 3-pointers. Brian Carter had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Cole Gordon and Jordan Maw combined for 25 points.
WASATCH ACADEMY 63, WESTLAKE 44: Wasatch Academy dominated from the opening whistle en route to a decisive victory. The Tigers moved to 9-0 and face 5A's undefeated Weber on Friday.
WEST 65, ROWLAND HALL 48: West earned the victory thanks to a very balanced scoring attack led by Holanie Olive, who scored nine points and grabbed nine boards. Rowland Hall's Wesley Austin scored a game-high 13 points in the loss.
MORGAN 51, STANSBURY 42: McKenzie Schenk scored a game-high 21 points and Ali Tonks also contributed 17 points to help Morgan get the road win over Stansbury.
BEAR RIVER 61, BEN LOMOND 40: Paige Roholt's double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds helped power the Bears past the Scots.
TOOELE 40, GRANTSVILLE 31: Courtney Schiwal scored a game-high 22 points to lead Tooele to victory. Grantsville's Amy Matthews scored 17 points including five 3-pointers.
KANAB 48, PINE VIEW 29: Kanab clamped down defensively and held Pine View below double figures all four quarters for the win. The Cowboys connected on 21-of-29 free-throw attempts and were led by Whitney Houston and Shaylee McDonald.
BOX ELDER 49, HIGHLAND 37: Box Elder outscored Highland 17-3 in the third quarter to earn the road victory over Highland. Kaylee Rapp scored a game-high 12 points for the Bees.
CEDAR 64, SALEM HILLS 44: Tara Shipp and Courtney Morley scored 20 points apiece to lead Cedar to victory. The key proved to be from distance for the Redmen as they hit 10 3-pointers as a team, five coming from Morley.
ENTERPRISE 47, HURRICANE 41: Riley Lyman and Anden Lyman grabbed 12 and 11 rebounds apiece for Enterprise in its victory over Hurricane. Riley Lyman added a game-high 16 points to lead the Wolves.
JORDAN 45, HERRIMAN 39: The Beetdiggers made a huge run in the fourth quarter to give them the comeback victory after trailing by five and the end of the third quarter. Patty Daley had a game-high 17 points. Abbie Bird added 10 points with one trey.
CLEARFIELD 48, PROVO 34: Clearfield got its night started with a 16-1 first quarter and besides a third quarter scare, the game followed suit as it defeated Provo by 14 points. Bailey Douglas led the Falcons with 13 points while the Bulldogs' Noa Talia scored a game-high 20 points in the loss.
OLYMPUS 36, EAST 35: Olympus hit a free-throw late in the game to capture the victory and defeat East. The Titans were led by Rachel VanderToolen who scored 10 points while Madison Roemer led the Leopards with 19 points in the loss.
DELTA 37, EMERY 29: Delta capitalized on its free-throw attempts, sinking 12-of-15 from the charity stripe to help the Rabbits defeat the Spartans. Angela Burton made three 3-pointers and scored a game-high 15 points for Delta.
MAPLE MOUNTAIN 56, WESTLAKE 31: Maple Mountain enjoyed strong performances from Tarin Strosser and Maddie Williams, who scored 16 and 11 points, respectively, in the win. The Golden Eagles, with a six point cushion, doubled-up Westlake in the third quarter to take control.
SKY VIEW 57, MOUNTAIN VIEW 47: Sky View's Tara Goldman had a double-double recording 14 points and 11 rebounds in the 10-point victory over Mountain View. Lindsey Jensen also added 14 points for the Bobcats
BREA-OLINDA, CALIF. 61, TIMPANOGOS 29: Timpanogos simply couldn't keep up with Brea-Olinda, Calif., as it dropped its first game of the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix.
MANILA 50, FARSON-EDEN, WYO. 35: Manila outscored Farson-Eden, Wyo. 15-2 in the first quarter to set the bar high throughout the game. Janell Reed led the way with 12 points and 11 boards. Rebecca Collett added nine points with 10 rebounds.
NORTH SEVIER 75, SOUTH SUMMIT 69: North Sevier's Erica Hallows drilled five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points and Taylor Anderson also recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds to help the Wolves edge out the Wildcats in double OT. Despite the loss, Jamie McNeil had a double-double with 19 points and 15 boards for South Summit
MOUNTAIN CREST 54, CYPRUS 39: Kelsee Nelson and Kelsey Karchner scored 11 points each as Mountain Crest jumped out to an early lead on visiting Cyprus and never relinquished it in the nonregion victory.
GREEN RIVER 43, ALTAMONT 28: Green River's strong second quarter ultimately proved too much and sealed the victory on the road. Altamont's McKelle Zeeman had 12 points in the loss.
SOUTH SEVIER 41, PAROWAN 35: South Sevier made the necessary adjustments at the break and came back to defeat Parowan at home. Shantae Dustin hit two treys and finished with a team-high 11 points for the Rams.
RICHFIELD 48, BEAVER 37: Sloane Roundy dished seven assists to go with 15 points as the Wildcats closed the first half on a 20-3 run.
WEBER 49, LONE PEAK 40: Trailing by 12 going into the fourth quarter, Lone Peak cut the lead to three points with about three minutes left but Weber was too much and earned the road victory. The Warriors were led by Erin Reichle who scored 15 points including one trey.
RIVERTON 52, VIEWMONT 43: Riverton's balanced scoring attack and ability to get to the free-throw line, where they outscored Viewmont 19-7, helped them outlast the Vikings to remain unbeaten on the season.
BONNEVILLE 39, LAYTON 37: Bonneville held on for the victory at home led by Emilie Volk, who scored 17 points. Layton's Jaden Anderson scored a game-high 19 points for the Pioneers in the loss.
WEST JORDAN 51, TAYLORSVILLE 39: West Jordan outscored Taylorsville by seven in both the opening and the finishing quarter to earn the victory. Lelja Hadzialijagic led the Jaguars with 16 points while Kim Evans added 12 points.
LOGAN 67, SPANISH FORK 48: Megan Mills sank five treys and scored a game-high 21 points and Lauren Mott also chipped in 19 points to help Logan get the road win over Spanish Fork.
BINGHAM 57, ALTA 39: Bingham remained unscathed on the season behind strong efforts from Jillian Powell and Mackenzie Bruggeman, who combined for 29 points.
SUMMIT ACADEMY 83, MERIT ACADEMY 13: Summit Academy took a monstrous lead at halftime for the win. Morgan Fox tallied 24 points while McKenzie Parker and Indiana Johnson teamed up for 25 points.Comment on this story
DUGWAY 44, LEGACY PREP 39: Dugway took the close victory over Legacy Prep on the road. Nadaja Bullock scored a game-high 30 points. Katreena Johnson threw down nine points.
AMERICAN FORK 39, MOUNTAIN VIEW, ARIZ. 36: In a tight game throughout, American Fork eked out a victory over Mountain View, Ariz. at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix. Amy Bergeson led the Cavemen with nine points.
NORTH SUMMIT 54, MANTI 32: Kassidee Evans' 15 points and seven steals led to the strong defeat over Manti at home. Susie Stephens had a double-double scoring 10 points and 11 boards.
SKYLINE 59, JUDGE MEMORIAL 45: Skyline, following a sluggish third quarter, finished strongly in the final eight minutes to top Judge. Sydnee Taylor had 20 points in the win and Mia Mortensen added 13.
