Tom Smart, Deseret News
The Pac-12 Conference was well represented on the college football All-America squads, led by USC sophomore WR Marqise Lee, who was a unanimous selection.
It marks the sixth consecutive season that the Pac-12 has had a unanimous selection and 67th unanimous selection all-time. Lee, the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year and Biletnikoff Award winner, was USC's 27th unanimous selection all-time.
Seven other Pac-12 football players were consensus selections, including Oregon senior RB Kenjon Barner, Arizona sophomore RB Ka'Deem Carey, Stanford senior TE Zach Ertz and junior OL David Yankey, Utah senior DL Star Lotulelei, Arizona State junior DL Will Sutton, and Oregon State DB Jordan Poyer. In addition, UCLA senior RB Johnathan Franklin was a Football Writers All-America selection.
USU ASSISTANT HIRED: Indiana State has hired Mike Sanford as its head football coach. The school sent out a news release announcing the hiring Friday and is planning to formally introduce Sanford next week. He replaces Trent Miles, who left after a third straight winning season to take the job at Georgia State on Nov. 30. Sanford spent this season as Utah State's assistant head coach and was in charge of running backs and tight ends.
