Our take: For those that are taking medication for their blood pressure or cancer will want to think twice about taking the pills with grapefruit juice. Researchers at the Lawson Health Research Institute in Canada found that one pill could increase the drug's levels by three times if taken with grapefruit juice. James Gallagher, reporter for BBC News explains the potentially toxic mix:

"The fruit can cause overdoses of some drugs by stopping the medicines being broken down in the intestines and the liver.

The researchers who first identified the link said the number of drugs that became dangerous with grapefruit was increasing rapidly."
