PROVO — BYU senior Brandon Davies was named to the preseason watch list for the prestigious John R. Wooden Award.
Davies is one of 50 players from around the country on the list for the award, which is given annually to the nation's best player. The Provo native averaged 15.2 points and 7.7 rebounds while shooting 51 percent from the floor in leading the Cougars to a 26-9 record last season.
Two BYU players have won the Wooden Award — Danny Ainge in 1981, and Jimmer Fredette in 2011.
