SALT LAKE CITY — Voters can start heading to the polls beginning Tuesday as early voting opens across Utah.
Voters must have registered to vote at least 30 days prior to the Nov. 6 election in order to participate in early voting, which continues through Nov. 2.
Mark Thomas of the lieutenant governor's office says at least one polling place will be open in each county, though some counties will have several polling sites. Unlike election day, when voters must go to their local precinct, voters may go to any polling site in their county during the early voting period.
Utah also has mailed out 226,000 absentee ballots for voters who wish to vote by mail. At least 76,000 of those ballots have already been returned.
