1. Jordan (7-1)

Class: 5A

Was: 1. Last week: Beat Brighton, 42-14. Outlook: Got off to another slow start against Brighton, a trend that Jordan probably wants to avoid in the playoffs. Next up: at West Jordan, Wednesday.

2. East (8-0)

Class: 4A

Was: 2. Last week: Beat Highland, 34-13. Outlook: No doubt one of the best teams in the state, but it might not get a chance to prove it in the playoffs. Next up: at Logan, Thursday.

3. Syracuse (9-0)

Class: 5A

Was: 3. Last week: Beat Weber, 31-7. Outlook: Wrapped up a perfect regular season last weekend and now will turn attention to trying to win a 5A state title. Next up: vs. TBD, 5A Playoffs, Oct. 26.

4. Timpview (8-1)

Class: 4A

Was: 4. Last week: Beat Springville, 48-20. Outlook: Nobody has been able to slow T-Bird offense all year, a big reason the T-Birds will be a favorite in the 4A playoffs. Next up: at Provo, Wednesday.

5. Alta (7-2)

Class: 5A

Was: 5. Last week: Beat West Jordan, 42-0. Outlook: The defense will get a good test in regular-season finale against an improving Cottonwood team. Next up: at Cottonwood, Wednesday.

6. Northridge (8-1)

Class: 5A

Was: 6. Last week: Beat Davis, 22-20. Outlook: With No. 2 seed for the playoffs locked up, the Knights host Mountain Crest in an intriguing nonregion game this week. Next up: vs. Mountain Crest, Wednesday.

7. Mountain Crest (7-2)

Class: 4A

Was: 7. Last week: Beat Roy, 38-6. Outlook: The surprising Region 5 champs are riding a six-game winning streak into clash with Northridge. Next up: at Northridge, Wednesday.

8. Bingham (7-2)

Class: 5A

Was: 8. Last week: Beat Lehi, 49-0. Outlook: Coming off back-to-back shutouts, the Miners need one more victory to secure a share of the Region 4 title. Next up: at Pleasant Grove, Wednesday.

9. Logan (7-2)

Class: 4A

Was: 9. Last week: Beat Box Elder, 28-10. Outlook: Heading into regular season finale with East, QB Luke Falk needs 23 pass attempts to surpass single-season state record of 490. Next up: vs. East, Thursday.

10. Juan Diego (9-0)

Class: 3A

Was: 11. Last week: Beat Park City, 58-0. Outlook: Forgive the Soaring Eagle if they're bored with Region 10 play, they won their combined league games by a score of 196-10. Next up: vs. Judge Memorial, Thursday.

11. Lone Peak (6-3)

Class: 5A

Was: 13. Last week: Beat Riverton, 17-13. Outlook: Bounced back nicely from Pleasant Grove loss with a critical victory over Riverton, and needs one more win to claim share of Region 4 title. Next up: at Lehi, Friday.

12. Herriman (7-2)

Class: 4A

Was: 18. Last week: Beat Westlake, 55-7. Outlook: Finished in a three-way tie for the Region 7 title, but won a coin flip to claim the No. 1 seed. Next up: at Clearfield, Wednesday.

13. Pleasant Grove (6-3)

Class: 5A

Was: 20. Last week: Beat American Fork, 28-21. Outlook: First-year coach Les Hamilton has put his team in a position to claim a No. 1 seed in the playoffs with a win over Bingham this week. Next up: vs. Bingham, Wednesday.

14. Woods Cross (7-2)

Class: 4A

Was: 21. Last week: Beat Bountiful, 14-0. Outlook: Ended years of frustration with a very impressive shutout victory over Bountiful last week. Next up: vs. Olympus, Wednesday.

15. Bountiful (6-3)

Class: 4A

Was: 14. Last week: Lost to Woods Cross, 14-0. Outlook: Coming off back-to-back losses to East and Woods Cross, the Braves will look to regroup and build some momentum toward the playoffs against Layton. Next up: at Layton, Wednesday.

16. Riverton (5-4)

Class: 5A

Was: 15. Last week: Lost to Lone Peak, 17-13. Outlook: Can clinch a playoff berth with a victory over American Fork, otherwise the 'Wolves will be forced into a play-in game. Next up: vs. American Fork, Wednesday.

17. Highland (5-4)

Class: 4A

Was: 19. Last week: Lost to East, 34-13. Outlook: Playoff seeding hangs in the balance with East's eligibility status up in the air. Next up: vs. Box Elder, Wednesday.

18. Box Elder (6-3)

Class: 4A

Was: 12. Last week: Lost to Logan, 28-10. Outlook: Offense has been held in check three straight games, something the Bees will try and remedy in regular-season finale. Next up: at Highland, Wednesday.

19. Brighton (6-3)

Class: 5A

Was: 16. Last week: Lost to Jordan, 42-14. Outlook: Following a disappointing region showing, the Bengals look to force a play-in game for Region 3's final playoff berth with a win this week. Next up: at Copper Hills, Wednesday.

20. Stansbury (9-0)

Class: 3A

Was: 23. Last week: Beat Grantsville, 14-13. Outlook: Should have no problem putting a bow on its perfect regular season with a victory over Ben Lomond this week. Next up: at Ben Lomond, Wednesday.

21. Hunter (6-2)

Class: 5A

Was: 24. Last week: Beat Taylorsville, 38-13. Outlook: Has emerged as the class of Region 2, the Wolverines will have to prove if they're for real in the playoffs. Next up: vs. Viewmont, Wednesday.

22. Desert Hills (5-3)

Class: 3A

Was: —. Last week: Beat Hurricane, 46-38. Outlook: If the Thunder take care of business against one-win Cedar this week, they'll head into playoffs as Region 9's top seed. Next up: vs. Cedar, Wednesday.

23. Hurricane (7-1)

Class: 3A

Was: 10. Last week: Lost to Desert Hills, 46-38. Outlook: Tigers' 20-game winning streak came to a heartbreaking end last week in triple overtime. Next up: vs. Canyon View, Wednesday.

24. Orem (6-3)

Class: 4A

Was: -. Last week: Beat Maple Mountain, 39-19. Outlook: Coming off impressive win over Maple Mountain, the Tigers will look to lock up Region 8 No. 2 seed with victory over Timpanogos. Next up: at Timpanogos, Wednesday.

25. Spanish Fork (8-1)

Class: 3A

Was: 25. Last week: Beat North Sanpete, 28-6. Outlook: Continues to impress defensively as the Dons have only surrendered 22 total points in four region games this year. Next up: at Payson, Thursday.

Dropped out: No. 22 Maple Mountain.
