Roundup of Week 9 football games across the state this past Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
SYRACUSE 31, WEBER 7: Brock Anderson kicked four PATs, one field goal, and threw touchdown passes to Diante Mitchell, Kiwa Mo'o and Jacob Garver all in the first half as Syracuse easily rolled past Weber to complete the Region 1 campaign with a perfect 5-0 record.
NORTHRIDGE 22, DAVIS 20: The Knights' Nate Kusuda completed 14-of-29 passes for 170 yards and the opening touchdown to lead Northridge in the narrow region victory. For Davis in the loss, Gage Cook was 16-for-26 for 225 yards and three touchdowns, while on defense the Darts' Dayne Lahae had 15 tackles, and one forced fumble, and Eliyah Mayberry had 19 tackles, two of which were sacks, and one forced fumble.
FREMONT 20, LAYTON 0: Fremont led the way scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter. Karson Garcia had two rushes for 74 total yards and Blake Gardner also had a big game with 15 rushes totaling 50 yards.
KEARNS 24, VIEWMONT 16: James Felila dominated the game with 211 yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries to lead Kearns on the road. Jordan Floyd had 98 yards and one score through the air. For Viewmont in the loss, Brandon Wardell totaled 109 yards on 19 carries for his third consecutive outing with 100-plus yards.
HUNTER 38, TAYLORSVILLE 13: Hunter held the lead throughout the game behind the efforts of Izaiha Paonga-Lei, who rushed for 81 yards and three touchdowns, and Kaleo Laita, who started the game off with an impressive 103-yard interception return.
GRANGER 56, WEST 35: James Elkins was the player of the game, recording 169 yards and an astounding six touchdowns on 15 carries for the Lancers. Tani Lehauli added 29 carries with 307 yards and two touchdowns to the Granger effort.
JORDAN 42, BRIGHTON 14: Austin Kafentzis lifted Jordan to the lopsided victory on 23 carries for 203 yards and three rushing touchdowns. The Beetdiggers blew the game open with a 20-point third quarter, and would go on to score 42 straight points after trailing 14-0 in the second quarter. The three third-quarter scores were tallied in just over a period of three minutes.
ALTA 42, WEST JORDAN 0: Alta pulled off the shutout against the visiting Jaguars. Ammon Barker snatched a 65-yard touchdown from Chipper Lucero, who threw for three other scores in the game.
COTTONWOOD 41, COPPER HILLS 14: The Colts dominted the game taking a 21-0 lead heading into halftime. Copper Hills did gain momentum in the third quarter scoring two touchdowns, one of which was a 90-kick return by Tyler Smith.
PLEASANT GROVE 28, AMERICAN FORK 21: Pleasant Grove scored with 4:45 left in the fourth quarter to beat its crosstown rivals on the road.
LONE PEAK 17, RIVERTON 13: Lone Peak extended its one point lead when Michael Smith connected on an incredible 58-yard field goal. From that point forward, the Knights were able to pin their ears back and shutout Riverton in the fourth quarter. In the loss, Brayden Mahoney lit off an 86-yard touchdown run.
BINGHAM 49, LEHI 0: In the last two region games Bingham has won by a combined score of 82-0. The Miners shot out of the gates early, scoring 35 first half points before putting on cruise control for the remaining two quarters. Hayden Weichers had an outstanding game, scoring on a four-yard touchdown run and on a 40-yard pick-six.
