President Thomas S. Monson's announcement that men will now be able to serve LDS missions at 18 and women at 19 caused many members to share their thoughts on Twitter. Many wrote about their emotions on the lowered mission age and how it affects women, BYU and LDS culture. Here are just a few of the hundreds of tweets that went out:

When I received my original mission call in December 1968 it was for a 30 month mission to Japan, but a couple weeks later I was in the first group going through a 2-month Language Training Mission in Hawaii for a 24 month mission. Then missionary More..

I had heard that they might change the age on the young men because it has been done in other nations. So many young in the United States lose their focus on a mission in the time between high school and 19. My son, who only has 2 weeks left of his More..

I think the funniest tweet was a guy who said "dang, my 19yr old girlfriend broke up with me halfway through the first session". Might not be true, but still :)
