UTAH VOLLEYBALL
CORVALLIS – Sophomore outside hitter Chelsey Schofield recorded her fifth double-double of the season, but the University of Utah volleyball team was defeated in a four-set decision at Oregon State (24-26, 23-25, 25-19, 22-25) on Sunday in a Pac-12 Conference match at Gill Coliseum.
Utah (9-8, 0-4 Pac-12) outblocked Oregon State, 14.0 to 8.0, and earned a 7-6 advantage in service aces. OSU took a 2.63 to .220 advantage in team hitting and a 59-51 edge in digs.
Three Utes notched double-digits in kills, led by Schofield, who turned in 14 kills and 11 digs for her fifth double-double of the year and the 13th of her career. This was Schofield's 11th match with 10 or more kills and 28th of her career. Schofield's last double-double came with 16 kills and 15 digs against Bowling Green on Sept. 8.
Junior outside hitter Morgan Odale posted a team-high 15 kills on 35 swings with just three errors for a .343 hitting efficiency, while also registering seven digs. Today was Odale's ninth double-digit-kill match of the year and 47th of her career.
Erin Redd had 11 kills in the match with just four miscues on 24 attempts on a .292 efficiency to go with four blocks.
McKenzie Odale set a new season-high with two service aces, who also distributed 18 assists. Redd was the third Ute to serve a pair of aces.
In the back row of the Ute defense, Lea Adolph registered 20 digs for her third consecutive match with 10 or more digs, which was her fifth such performance of this season and the ninth of her career.
The Utes host No. 5 Washington on Friday at 8:30 p.m. MT. All of the action from Crimson Court will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network.
