Kristie Madsen unloads food for the Utah Food Bank at Walmart in Salt Lake City on Saturday, the culmination of Hunger Action Month in Utah. Gov. Gary Herbert joined Boy Scouts and local volunteers in gathering boxes, bags and cans of food, as roughly one in seven Utah children are at risk of missing a meal and more than 87,000 meals are needed to end food insecurity in the Beehive State. "Families experience food insecurity all year long, and summer is no exception," said Ginette Bott, chief marketing officer at Utah Food Bank. The food bank received more than 150,000 pounds of non-perishable food items and more than $150,000 in cash through the summer food drive.
