West Virginia's Geno Smith, Baylor's Nick Florence and Miami's Stephen Morris were quarterbacks-gone-wild Saturday.
And each of them did something no major-college passer had done since 2009.
Smith threw for 656 yards and eight touchdowns against Baylor — the game where Florence threw for 581 yards and five scores. And in the Hurricanes' win over North Carolina State, Morris threw for a school-record 566 yards and five touchdowns.
Combined, the trio's total passing was the equivalent of 1.02 miles.
According to STATS LLC, the last quarterback with at least 550 yards and five touchdowns in a game was Houston's Case Keenum against Southern Mississippi on Oct. 31, 2009.
Before that, the last do it was Texas Tech's Graham Harrell against Oklahoma State on Sept. 22, 2007.
