High school football: Former University of Utah players trying their hands at coaching

"I haven't talked to Rod since he's been over there — I've meant to call him. I actually crossed paths with him when he was (an assistant) at Bear River," Bullett said. "I've talked with Mike this year and I've always talked with Cecil over the years because he was recruiting with Weber (State). Plus he was an o-lineman, so I've known him a long time."

"I've probably talked to Rodney more than any of the other coaches this year," Thomas added. "We just talk about our programs, where we're coming and what we've got to work on."

The advantage certainly emerges when similar foes make appearances on the others' schedules.

"If we have a common opponent we'd probably call each other and exchange information, that type of deal," Thomas explained.

It's been 22 years since the four sported the drum and feather together, and many memories and life lessons from their time on the hill have helped develop the four men into the coaches they are today.

And despite the time that has past, it's quite apparent that their worlds were never that far apart.
