High school football: Felt's Facts Week 6

Published: Thursday, Sept. 20 2012 9:00 a.m. MDT

The Bears finally get a "home" contest against Duchesne next week, played at Judge Memorial, and make their final road trip "just" to Layton Christian, only 45 miles away, a couple of weeks after that.

All told, the Bears' travel for the year equals a cross-country trip from New York to San Francisco.

Most-played Rivalries (min. 50 games)

Only two games qualify: Lehi faces Pleasant Grove for the 55th time and leads the series 29-23-2, but PG has taken 11 straight in sporadic meetings since 1973. … Tooele and Grantsville clash for the 53rd time. The Cowboys won the last two, in 2009 and last year, to cut into Tooele's series lead, 39-10-3.

Other Game Notes

No contests pair undefeated teams this week, and there's just one among the winless, Cottonwood at West Jordan.

Alta and Brighton battle for the 36th time in an uninterrupted series that began in 1978. The Bengals lead 19-16, but the Hawks have won five of the last six. … Highland owns a 27-14 edge over Bountiful; the Braves broke the Rams' five-game series winning streak last year, 27-3.

The Rabbits won 40-7 for only their fourth win in 18 tries against the Lions.

In an important Region 9 contest, Desert Hills and Dixie find themselves knotted at 2-2 in their series. … Snow Canyon captured nine of the first 11 against Hurricane, but the Tigers have claimed six of seven since, narrowing the Warriors' lead to 10-8. … Cedar and Pine View have already played 34 times – at least once a year since PV opened in 1983. The Redmen won the last two to increase their series lead to 21-13.

Beaver leads its series with Enterprise just 7-6 as the Wolves have captured the last three and four of the previous five.
