In this June 15, 2012 file photo, Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch and Dan Liljenquist talk before participating in a debate before the Utah primary election at KSL Newsradio in Salt Lake City.

I understand Sen. Orrin Hatch's reluctance to debate his challenger Scott Howell. He's a very busy man, he tells us — too busy to appear before his constituents. Or is it, as senior senator, he's become "senior" enough that he'd rather we not see that his memory and grasp of issues has slipped?
The people of Utah deserve to make a judgement based on a side-by-side comparison.

Hatch & his campaign have been hearing the "Senior moment" comments for a few years. If it weren't true, you'd think Hatch would be out in public showing Utahn's so. I think the letter writer has hit the nail on the head.
People have elected Hatch senator for life. They are not holding him accountable for anything anymore nor even want to. I would rather have somebody as our senator that we can be held accountable for what they do. I'm no liberal or no democrat More..
