High school football: Week 5 roundup

Here's a roundup of the 48 high school football games across the state on Friday night in Week 5:


LAYTON 35, WEBER 14: Hunter Evans was 12-of-21 for 256 yards and two touchdowns for Layton in the win. The Lancers defense was swarming the entire night with five sacks and two interceptions. Willie Uasilaa carried the ball 18 times for 74 yards and a TD in the region victory.

SYRACUSE 28, DAVIS 14: Davis book-ended the game with touchdowns, but the Titans produced two more scores to remain perfect on the season. Brock Anderson completed 20-of-28 passes for 209 yards and four touchdowns with one interception, and he kicked all four Syracuse extra points. Mason Woodward was the team's lead rusher with 84 yards on 14 carries.

NORTHRIDGE 42, FREMONT 18: David Adams rushed 22 times for 101 yards and a score, and also caught the ball five times for 72 yards. Jace Colby had four catches with 61 yards and two scores, while Dallin Isaacson carried the ball for 58 yards and two touchdowns.


JORDAN 36, ALTA 24: Behind a dominant rushing game, the 'Diggers overcame an early 14-0 deficit on their way to beating Alta for the first time in six years. Jordan had 56 rushes for 331 yards, with quarterback Austin Kafentzis leading the way with 161 yards on 32 carries. Clay Moss added 114 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. Alta quarterback Chipper Lucero had a great game completing 29-of-43 for 372 yards and three touchdowns.


LOGAN 54, BONNEVILLE 20: Logan marched into the half with a comfortable 14-point lead, and opened the flood-gates in the second half with 34 points to pick up the region victory on the road.

MOUNTAIN CREST 44, SKY VIEW 24: Mountain View's Eddy Hall led the way with 252 yards and two rushing touchdowns on 33 carries along with a 28-yard passing touchdown. Faimafili Laulu-Pututau had eight receptions for 108 yards and two scores for the Mustangs.

BOX ELDER 39, ROY 17: A closely fought battle in the first half turned into an easy win for Box Elder as they scored 26 points in the second half. The Bees went into the half trailing 17-13 but thanks to two touchdown runs by Kasen Flinders they were able to come out with the win. Tyler Thornton and Matt Williams sealed the deal with a pick-six and a touchdown run, respectively.


BOUNTIFUL 56, CYPRUS 10: Jakob Hunt led the Bountiful attack with a team high four touchdowns to pick up the region victory at home. Jordan Hayes passed for a pair of touchdowns, and Tyler Packer added a 42-yard TD sprint as the Braves accounted for 258 total yards rushing.

HIGHLAND 56, CLEARFIELD 14: Austin Peterson was 5-for-12 with 81 yards passing, while rushing for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Viliami Sekona carried the ball 13 times for 124 yards and three scores, and Highland enjoyed a 42-14 advantage at the half to cruise to the lopsided region win.

EAST 28, WOODS CROSS 7: Ula Tulutau led the East rushing attack with 164 yards and a touchdown. The Leopards marched to 394 total rushing yards, and overcame three fumbles to down Woods Cross on the road and pick up the region victory.


OLYMPUS 26, WESTLAKE 6: Olympus managed to hold Westlake scoreless for the first three quarters, until Gavin Williams connected with Timothy Forsyth to record Thunder's lone score. Corbin Anderson and Coleman Meier managed to reach the end zone in the Titans victory.

HERRIMAN 56, HILLCREST 7: Herriman got off to a strong start in Region 7 play with a rout of Hillcrest.
