FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Tenarius Wright's move from defensive end to middle linebacker could be a key to the success of No. 10 Arkansas this season.
Wright was asked by coaches to make the move during the spring, following the graduation of four-year starter Jerry Franklin at middle linebacker and an injury to starter Alonzo Highsmith.
The senior had been one of the team's top pass-rushing threats over the past few seasons, but a lack of depth at linebacker forced the coaches to ask Wright to move to a position he hadn't played since high school.
Arkansas defensive coordinator Paul Haynes said a surplus of defensive line talent made the move possible, and the Razorbacks are counting on a quick transition.
Arkansas hosts Jacksonville State to open the season on Sept. 1.
