CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Michael Rocco is Virginia's quarterback and team leader.

He leads a group of quarterbacks that coach Mike London says players are confident in "for probably the first time in a while."

Phillip Sims, a transfer from Alabama who was once among the nation's top recruiting targets, has been cleared to play. David Watford took some snaps in key situations before the staff turned to Rocco about midway through last season.

Offensive tackle Morgan Moses says Rocco got better each game last season and continued to improve over the summer. He says Rocco "looks different. He walks around different. He's a leader. That's a guy that you want to play for."

Rocco and the Cavaliers want to improve on their 8-5 record last season and their first bowl bid since 2007.
