MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Efren Navarro belted a two run homer in the fourth inning to help send the Salt Lake Bees on their way to a 5-2 win over the Memphis Redbirds on Tuesday night.
Luis Jimenez led off the fourth with an infield single before Navarro belted an 0-2 pitch into the right-field seats to give Salt Lake a 2-0 lead. After the Redbirds scored a run in the sixth, the Bees extended their lead to 4-1 on a two-out, two-run double by Jimenez.
Matt Shoemaker (9-9) earned the win, as he went six innings and allowed just one run on seven hits with five strikeouts and two walks. David Carpenter worked a three up, three down seventh inning and Jeremy Berg allowed one run on one hits over the last two innings to close out the game. Jimenez led the Bees with two hits, his fifth consecutive multi-hit game, and two runs batted in, while Navarro added two hits and two RBI, as Salt Lake picks up its third straight win.
