Summary

What parents need to know about the "The Dark Knight Rises," before taking your children.

  • Doug's take: 'The Dark Knight Rises' is a dark but compelling story

Intense violence: You can expect many scenes of intense violence and acts of terrorism in the latest installment of the Batman franchise. Batman's nemesis, Bane, is especially disturbing with a partially masked face and distorted voice. One scene involves Bane violently beating Batman, seemingly, to death.

Sex: A sex scene is implied with some brief nudity. Overall, the film contains minor sexual content, bar that scene.

Good and evil: As with all Batman movies, good triumphs over evil. However, director Christopher Nolan takes viewers to the brink of despair before restoring hope with a brilliant ending to the movie.

I give this movie an OK for ages 15-plus purely for the violence. If you're a fan of Batman, it will definitely be worth your time.
