Crews battle the Shingle Fire east of Cedar City Monday, July 2, 2012.

SALT LAKE CITY — Light rains are helping firefighters contain nine major wildfires across Utah.
Officials say they plan to lift some of the evacuations orders for the Shingle fire 30 miles southeast of Cedar City.
Authorities plan to reopen state Route 14 through Dixie National Forest early Friday. They also plan to lift an evacuation order for some cabins and summer homes on both sides of the highway at the same time.
The 8,200-acre Shingle fire is burning south of Route 14, where officials say light rain is holding it in check.
One firefighter broke his foot fighting the Shingle fire Tuesday night.
