Utah Jazz: Burks, Carroll, Kanter will headline squad for Orlando summer league
SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor announced Tuesday that Jazz players Alec Burks, DeMarre Carroll, Enes Kanter and Blake Ahearn will join 2012 draft pick Kevin Murphy in headlining the team's mini-camp in preparation for the 2012 Orlando Pro Summer League.
The team's mini-camp is scheduled to open Thursday at RDV SportsPlex in Maitland, Fla. and will run through Sunday.
Also expected to participate in camp are former Jazzman Kyle Weaver, NBA veterans Stephen Graham and Cedric Simmons, John Millsap (brother of Jazz forward Paul Millsap) and Michael Stockton (son of Naismith Hall of Famer and former Jazz great John Stockton).
The Jazz will play five games in the summer league, facing the Pistons (July 9, 1 p.m.), 76ers (July 10, 9 a.m.), Magic (July 11, 3 p.m.), Pacers (July 12, 1 p.m.) and Thunder (July 13, 6 a.m.) once each. The Jazz will not face the Celtics or Nets.
The summer league is hosted by the Orlando Magic and will take place on the practice courts at Amway Center, the Magic's home arena. Utah previously participated in the Orlando Pro Summer League in 2009 and 2010, when the event was held at RDV Sportsplex.
All 20 games of the OPSL will be broadcast live on NBA TV and will also be available online through the NBA Summer League Broadband subscription service at www.nba.com/summerleaguebroadband.
Due to space limitations, the Orlando Pro Summer League is not open to the public and will be open only to the media and professional team/league personnel. League games will begin at 9 a.m. MT from July 9-12, and at 6 a.m. MT on July 13.
