WSU'S CALLISTER HONORED: For the second-straight year, Weber State junior distance runner Sarah Callister has earned Academic All-American honors. Callister has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division I Women's Cross Country/Track and Field Third Team. The Academic All-America teams were announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

She becomes just the fourth student-athlete in Weber State history in any sport to earn Academic All-American honors twice in a career.

Callister is one of 15 athletes named to the Third Team and is one of 45 student-athletes to earn Division I Academic All-America honors. She is one of just two student-athletes from a university in the state of Utah and one of two from a school in the Big Sky Conference to earn Academic All-America honors. Earlier this month she was named to the District VIII Academic All-District First Team.

Callister, a native of Ogden and graduate of Ogden High School, had an incredible year as a member of the Weber State women's cross country and track and field teams. In the past year she won four Big Sky Conference titles in indoor and outdoor track. At the 2012 indoor track championships she won the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters and was second in the mile in helping Weber State win the conference title. For her performance she was named the Female Athlete of the Meet. In outdoor track she won the 5,000 meters and the 10,000 meters at the conference meet for the third consecutive season, becoming the first athlete in conference history to win both events in three straight years. She qualified for the NCAA First Round Championship in the 10,000 meters and just missed advancing to the NCAA Championships.

She also set a Weber State and Big Sky record in the 10,000 meters in outdoor track and posted five times on the school's all-time top 10 list.

Last fall in cross country she earned All-Conference honors by finishing fifth at the Big Sky Championships, helping Weber State win the conference title.
