Chris Bosh’s masseuse dies after massage session at athlete’s home
MIAMI — Heat player Chris Bosh’s masseuse died Monday after passing out and collapsing at Bosh’s Miami Beach home.
According to a Miami Beach police report, the unidentified woman arrived at Bosh’s North Bay Road home at 10:24 a.m. Monday for a massage session. She looked “well and in good spirits,” but she suddenly passed out around 2:28 p.m.
She was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, where she died around 11:45 p.m.
The report stated a friend told police that the woman survived cancer a year ago.
Miami Beach police are investigating.
“It doesn’t look like any foul play is suspected at this time,” Detective Vivian Hernandez said.
Bosh didn’t speak before Tuesday’s game against the Celtics, although he and wife Adrienne released a statement through the team.
“Last evening, a massage therapist that we have used for some time, arrived at our home to provide massage therapy,” the statement read. “Shortly after she arrived, she fainted and lost consciousness. We called 911 and emergency personnel arrived at our home shortly thereafter. They took her to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she passed away. Our hearts go out to her family. We are very sorry for their loss.”
Said coach Erik Spoelstra: “It’s an absolute tragedy. It really is. We’re learning all the full details now so it would probably be inappropriate for me to comment any further about it. But Chris was around (Tuesday) morning. He was focused.”
