SALT LAKE CITY — Renan Lenz, a 6-foot-9, 235-pound forward from Arizona Western College, has committed to the University of Utah and is expected to submit his paperwork to the program today.
Lenz, who is from Santo Angelo, Brazil, averaged 13.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game while leading the Matadors to the NJCAA Region 1 tournament championship.
The addition of Lenz brings Utah's scholarship roster for 2012-13 to 11, leaving just two vacancies on a squad that includes Dallin Bachynski, Glen Dean, Aaron Dotson, David Foster, Jordan Loveridge, Cedric Martin, Jeremy Olsen, Justin Seymour, Brandon Taylor and Jason Washburn.

Great pick-up, it's got to help!
This next season is shaping up already. It's great to be a Ute!
I hear that there were a lot of schools looking at him....and then laughing, they turned off the machine.
One positive for the Utes next year is that they will have a lot of height with multiple players 6' 8" or taller. Still a long ways to go but a lot more talent than this year and finally a positive recruiting story.
