PORTLAND, Ore. — Billionaire Paul Allen is emphatically refuting reports that he is entertaining offers for the Portland Trail Blazers.
Allen went to Twitter on Thursday to rebut the report, which appeared in a blog post on Comcast SportsNet Northwest's website. CSNNW broadcasts Trail Blazers games.
"It is absolutely false that I have entertained offers for (the Trail Blazers). Unnamed sources are wrong as usual," Allen tweeted.
David Postman, a spokesman for Allen, also disputed the blog post.
There have been rumors swirling in recent months that the Microsoft co-founder is positioning the team for sale. Talk of a sale has escalated recently with the firing of head coach Nate McMillan. The Blazers are also operating under an interim general manager.
In a wide-ranging interview with several media outlets in December at the start of the lockout-shortened season, Allen also denied he intended to sell the team.
