The Utah Jazz Bear gives high fives to fans during the Jazz open exhibition game at the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011.rn
Kristin Murphy, Deseret News
Why is a bear the mascot of the Utah Jazz? It seems that a colorful New Orleans-stryle jazz musician playing his instrument throughout the arena would be much more interesting and exciting, not to mention more apropos. A couple of musical sidemen would add to the excitement.

John,
This has absolutely nothing to do with political persuasion. To call it "left wing nonsense" is utter nonsense.
Cities and states do not have values, individuals do. To associate sin with jazz music is beyond More..
The greater challenge would be to correct the error made all those years ago when the New Orleans Jazz were moved to Utah, and finally get your own team name.
Bob, in case you hadn't noticed we live in Utah, not New Orleans. The Bear is iconic in NBA circles so let's give you a do-over. As for JCS, in your honor we could name them the Utah Paranoids and have a marine looking under all kinds of More..
