Judge Memorial rallies to win in hockey tourney, defeats Washington Hortnets 4-3

SALT LAKE CITY — Andrew Bergquist scored the game-winning goal with 33 seconds remaining as Utah champion Judge Memorial recorded a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Washington Hornets Thursday in the USA Hockey high school national championship tournament.

Bergquist, who was assisted on the decisive play by Jack Keller, also scored earlier in the game as the Bulldogs erased a 3-0 deficit. Sam Taylor had the other two scores for Judge.

Brandon Cole, Bailey Shaver and Ryan Jaromin netted goals for the Everett-based Hornets.

Judge's win is the lone breakthrough for Utah through two days of pool play. Games continue through Sunday at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex.

BROPHY (ARIZ.) 13, BINGHAM 0: The Broncos overpowered the Miners in a major way. Tanner Touhy scored four goals, while Charlie LaBarr and Ryan Beneduce each added two. Brophy outshot Bingham, 65-12.

IDAHO FALLS (IDAHO) 13, CLEVELAND (N.M.) 1: The Tigers prevailed handily thanks to a 97-7 shots-on-goal advantage. Andrew Latham led the way with four goals and two assists. Jake Thornberry finished with a goal and five assists.

SKUTT/ELKHORN (NEB.) 6, SKYLINE (IDAHO) 3: Adam Maher paced the Skyhawks with two goals and a pair of assists. Teammate Zach Crouse contributed a pair of goals. The score was knotted at 3-3 entering the final second of the middle period.

WATERLOO (IOWA) 4, PINNACLE (ARIZ.) 3: The Warriors rallied with two goals in the final 2:40 to knock off the Pioneers. Austin Jackson scored the game-winning goal with eight seconds remaining, off an assist by Timothy Brown.

FORT DORCHESTER (S.C.) 8, HENDERSONVILLE (TENN.) 1: The Patriots topped the Commandos thanks to two-goal performances by Julian Dipaolo and Danny Rowland. Chandler Murphy was credited with three assists.

PLANO WEST (TEXAS) 8, ARLINGTON (N.Y.) 1: The Wolves capitalized on two goals by Chris Malinowski, Ronnie Jewell and Bryson Boulanger to topple the Admirals. The Texans led 4-0 after one period of play.

REGIS JESUIT (COLO.) 4, NEWARK (OHIO) 0: The Colorado champs used goals by Connor Brennan, Brian Burlage, Marshall Conrad and Logan Baca to defeat the Generals. San Harden had the shutout in goal for Regis Jesuit.

SANTA MARGARITA (CALIF.) 3, NORTH BROWARD (FLA.) 2: The last game of the day proved to be a good one. Max Killuts scored two goals, including the game-winner with 16:43 remaining for the Eagles. Brian Desmond had Santa Margarita's other score. Jake Simons and Chad Fleischman netted goals for North Broward.
