UVU's Mason Casper is tied for sixth after shooting a 2-under 70 in the opening round and a 3-over 75 in the second round. Stratton Schulz is tied for 34th (73-79), while Clark Fredrickson (78-75) is tied for 39th, Brayden Eriksen is tied for 48th (79-75), and Michael Dart is tied for 55th (76-79).

"Mason, Clark and Brayden all shot 75 in the afternoon, which was a great round in the wind," Curran said. "They battled hard."?

MEN'S GOLF: Senior Kyle Chappell fired an opening-round 68, 2-under par- as the Dixie State golf team competed at the Coyote Classic on Monday afternoon at San Bernardino, Calif.

Chappell keyed the Red Storm to a 9th-place standing through the first 18 holes at the par-70, 6,537-yard Arrowhead Country Club layout.

Thirty-six holes were scheduled for Monday, but inclimate weather forced the 19-team field to finish just short of completing Round 2. Play will begin at 8 a.m. today, pending course conditions, and the final round will follow.

Freshman David Cunningham shot a 75, followed by senior Nick Drost's 78, and Brandon Wagstaff and Hayden Christensen carded first-round 79s.

Chappell is one stoke off the lead and is currently in second place. The Redlands' Jeremy Sanders grabbed the lead at 3-under 67. Chico State's Kyle Souza, Kevin Rei, and Central Oklahoma's Josh Creel all are at even-par 70.

Chico State fired a 5-over 285 and leads by six strokes over Grand Canyon (291). Cal State Stanislaus (293), Redlands (297), UC San Diego (298) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (298) round out the top five.
