Jae Earl Toone1934 - 2012Jae Earl Toone passed away February 22, 2012 at the age of 77, surrounded by his family in his new home in Riverton, Utah. He battled prostate cancer for 5 years before his non-cancerous liver finally gave out. His dream was to live long enough that something besides cancer would get him. He went peacefully in his sleep. He was born to Earl and Ideal Toone on April 1, 1934 on Easter Sunday, in Vineyard, Utah. Jae was raised on the family farm with his five sisters and two brothers in Draper, Utah. He learned the value of hard work from his parents. As a youth, Jae attended Draper Park School and then graduated from Jordan High School. After high school, Jae served in the U.S. Air Force for four years as a jet aircraft mechanic. He married Joan Harris in 1955 and was blessed with two daughters, Starlet and Tonya. They later divorced and Jae married Mary Swenson in 1963, and they had two sons, Russell and Kyle. Jae married his childhood friend, Lorna Sjoblom, in 1989 and together they doted on their large, combined family. Jae retired from the State of Utah after 30 years and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement with his wife and family. Jae enjoyed working in his large garden and provided his neighbors and family with home-grown vegetables. He was very frugal and prided himself in his ability to work hard and stretch his dollars. Jae also loved serving others, and had a variety of callings in the LDS Church through the years. He especially loved little children and would often entertain them with his "Donald Duck" quack. He is survived by his wife Lorna and their children, Starlet Kiemele, Tonya (Hoyt) Smart, Russell (Sandie), and Kyle (Kathy), Wendelyn (Ed) Shoemaker, Janilee (Gus) Nader, Gail (David) Lamoreaux, Holly (Jason) Holmes, and Pauline (Dan) Shoemaker, and 34 grandchildren, and 15+ great- grandchildren, Wilma Steadman (sister), Elaine Webb (sister), Ardine (sister), Merrill (brother), Paul (brother). He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Donna and Marva. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25th at 1:00 p.m. at the LDS Chapel at 1988 W 11400 So, South Jordan, UT. A viewing will be held Friday, February 24th at Goff Mortuary (8090 South State Street, Midvale, UT) from 6-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the services, at the church. The family would like to thank the many people who aided in his care. In lieu of flowers please take your family to Chuck-A-Rama. www.goffmortuary.com
