Obituary: CLARKE, LEONARD ALLEN

Leonard Allan Clarke3/27/1929 ~ 2/20/2012Leonard Allan Clarke passed away surrounded by his family after many years of declining health. Married his sweetheart, Florence Olson, on July 25, 1950. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple.Allan was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid BYU and Jazz fan who loved hunting and fishing. His passion was training and racing thoroughbred horses. Dad loved coaching basketball and baseball. Allan was a mentor to many and was a great friend to all that knew him. He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a member of the LDS church. He held many church callings, but his favorites were those that involved the youth. Allan proudly served two terms in the US Army during the Korean War.The greatest gift I ever had. It came from God, I call him Dad. Allan is survived by his children, Becky (Bob) Rothe, Mary (Jeff) Smith, Marty, Nora, Todd (Linda) Clarke; his brothers, Lester (Vertis) Clarke, Jim (Erma) Clarke; sister, Ethel (LaMar) LeFevre; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Florence; granddaughter, Bailey; his siblings, John Clarke, Kathleen Pollock, and Margene Moore.The family would like to thank the staff of Murray Care Center and the staff at Legacy House of Taylorsville. Funeral Services will be Friday, February 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church located at 4270 W. 5780 S. A viewing will be Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St., and Friday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
