Obituary: RUSHTON, RUSSELL WELBY

Russell Welby Rushton1949 ~ 2012Russell Welby Rushton passed away peacefully on February 16, 2012 after battling kidney cancer. He was born in Salt Lake to Lambert Welby and Dorothy Rushton. He spent his childhood in Arizona, later returning to Salt Lake. He served a full-time mission in the Paraguay, Uruguay Mission for the LDS Church.Russell fell in love with his sweetheart, Debra Buehner, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 2, 1973. He was a hard worker and passed that quality on to his children. He was employed at Aero Tech Manufacturing for 33 years beginning in the paint shop and working up to Cost Accountant. He loved his job and enjoyed the associations he had there. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church, always devoted and dedicated to wherever he was called to serve. Russell will always be remembered for his "zest" for life. He loved travel, fishing with family, electronic gadgets, and will always be remembered for his love of The Beatles. The most important thing in his life, though, was his family, they always came first no matter what. Russell is survived by his wife Debra, his children Lori Dowdle (Jeff), Scott Rushton, Anne Schmidt (Kenny), Jason Rushton (Amy), Aaron Rushton (Lucinda), Lindsey Garcia (Jeremy), and his 12 1/2 grandchildren, and his sister Sandra Glazier (Stewart). He was preceded in death by his parents. An evening viewing will be held Monday, February 20 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 21 at 11:00AM at the Fairmont Ward, 2465 S 800 E, with a viewing beforehand from 9:30 to 10:45. The family would like to thank all the many caregivers, friends, and family who showed their love and support at this time.
