RASTEN YEATES, Box Elder, wrestling: This junior wrestler continued his remarkable season last Thursday as he pinned Sky View's Abraham Herrera in the 152-pound championship match of the Region 5 tournament. With the help of Yeates' win, Box Elder edged Mountain Crest for the region title.

With the victory, Yeates improved his overall record this year to 39-1 heading into this week's 4A state tournament at UVU.

Yeates is the No. 1-ranked wrestler in 4A at 152 pounds heading into the state tournament. Wrestleutah.com has him ranked No. 7 overall in the entire state at all weights.

Yeates won the state championship as a sophomore last year at 135 pounds, and he finished fourth as a freshman at 125 pounds.

MIQUELLE ASKEW, Skyline, girls basketball: The Skyline star is one of the state's best post players, but she does not have the ego that sometimes accompanies success.

"She's a good teammate regardless if she's playing with all-stars or playing with rookies," said Skyline head coach Deb Bennett. "She's had to play with a lot of younger players this season, and she's great with her teammates, really supportive."

The future Boise State player is also the focal point of most opponents' defenses, as she averages nearly 20 points per game and almost 10 rebounds. The honor student scored 23 points and went 17-of-19 from the free-throw line in a recent game against Murray.

"She's a marked player, always drawing a double-team and sometimes a triple-team," said Bennett. "But she still manages to score."
