Healing Hands for Haiti, a nonprofit medical group that provides rehabilitation services to the disabled of Haiti, will hold a 5K run on Saturday, May 27.
Registration begins at 8 a.m.; the race starts at 9 a.m. Cost is $15 in advance or $18 the day of the race. Runners should meet in the Bowery at Liberty Park, 700 E. 1300 South. Or they can register and pay in advance by mailing a check to Healing Hands for Haiti Foundation, P.O. Box 521800, Salt Lake City, UT 84152-1800. Prizes will be given in four categories, including a wheelchair division.The money will be used to establish a permanent rehabilitation clinic in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Utah physicians and other health-care providers are planning three trips to Haiti this summer to outfit the clinic and train native Haitian staff. For more information, call Becky at 582-5109.
