Healing Hands for Haiti, a not-for-profit medical foundation in Salt Lake City, will hold its second annual gala May 11 at the Salt Lake Country Club.

Festivities begin at 7 p.m. with a social hour and silent auction, followed by a dinner. At 8:30, a live auction will begin, featuring a professional auctioneer. The group includes physicians, nurses, therapists and other health-care providers dedicated to offering rehabilitative services and education to the people of Haiti.

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, with an annual per capita income of $385. With virtually no infrastructure and little health care, the slightest injury suffered in Haiti can result in lifelong disability.
