After two years of negotiations with Deseret Federal Savings and Loan, developers John Booth, Shirl McKay and Mark Ballif will open Sherwood Hills Resort in Sardine Canyon between Mantua and Wellsville July 15.
They hope to expand the nine-hole golf course to 18 holes by 1989, and extensive remodeling in the resort is under way. It has one outdoor swimming pool, one indoor pool, weight room, Jacuzzi, steam rooms, racquet ball courts, several tennis courts, horse stables, and cross-country ski trails. The restaurant will be run by people from the Copper Mill Restaurant.
Booth said plans are being made to market corporate retreat packages and conferences. They also are trying to attract family reunions, class reunions and tourist groups.
According to Laventhol and Horwath, hotel marketing and developments specialists, Sherwood Hills has great potential as a small conference facility.
