Myrle Chantrill Davis, 76, died February 27, 2000 in St. George, Utah.Comment on this story
She was born April 14, 1923 at Newdale, Idaho to James and Mabel Martineau Chantrill. She married Walter J. Davis on July 22, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple. Myrle spent her life in service to others. She and her husband served as mission-aries at the BYU Missionary Training Cen-ter preparing Family History Missionaries to serve in many parts of the world. They served in London, England; Frankfort, Germany; Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. She played the piano and organ and sang in ward choirs. She held many church callings, among them, Relief Society President. Many days were spent in genealogy research and she loved to travel, going to Europe, Israel, Mexico and Egypt.Survivors include her husband, Walter J. Davis of Orem, Utah; and her children: Lorraine Wallace (Olani, deceased), Blair (Susan), Jay (Elaine), Glenn (Gloria), Brian (Marian), and Michelle (Robert) Walz; 33 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother and four sisters: Leigh (Erna) Chantrill, Virginia Evans, Gayle Morris, Glenna (Richard) Gardner and Ella McArthur. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Olani Wallace; two great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: Clayton Chantrill, LaVern Chantrill and Emma Lou Richards.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 2, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Suncrest Stake Center, 90 North 600 West in Orem. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St. in Orem and also one hour prior to the services at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
