KEARNS — Police are seeking information on a shooting that left one man in critical condition.
The 26-year-old man was found lying on the road around 4 a.m. Thursday by other motorists who were driving in the area of 4865 S. 4520 West, Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said. Those individuals stopped and called police for help.
Officers arrived to find the man in critical condition and had him transported to an area hospital.
"We're hoping for a recovery," Hoyal said.
According to family and friends, the victim was from Salt Lake City — not Kearns.
"We're trying to find out what brought him here tonight," Hoyal said. "Right now he's not in a position to talk to us."
Hoyal said the motorists who noticed the man are the only witnesses. No neighbors have said they heard gunshots.
"We've got a lot of tips, but nothing solid yet," he said.
Detectives are currently on the case, but Hoyal said they are still seeking the public's help and are asking that anyone with information call 801-743-7000.
