FARMINGTON – One man was seriously injured in a four-vehicle crash Thursday on I-15 north of Farmington that brought the interstate to a crawl after all but one northbound lane was closed for 90 minutes.
The 6:15 p.m. crash was a chain-reaction, rear-end collision that happened a quarter-mile north of the Park Lane overpass. Troopers say a motorist in a full-sized pickup truck with cruise control on didn't notice traffic had slowed because of a police-initiated slow down due to roadway debris.
His truck slammed into the back of a smaller truck, which was pushed into a Suburban, which was pushed into a small sedan.
The driver of the small pickup truck, which troopers say was crunched like an accordion, had to be cut out of the roof of the vehicle and was flown to Intermountain Medical Center with serious injuries. A woman driver in the small sedan was also injured and was taken to Davis Hospital as a precaution.
All lanes have been restored to normal traffic.
