STANSBURY PARK, Tooele — The Ogden Tigers pranced into Stansbury on Wednesday night and trounced the Stallions 67-41 behind 47 combined points from Lyden Egbert, Spencer Smith and Blake Newman.
Newman led the way with 17, Smith had 16, and Egbert scored 14 for Ogden. Ryan Robbins led the way for the Stallions with 11 points.
The Tigers jumped out to a 29-8 lead at halftime behind 10 first-half points from Egbert. The Stallions only scored four points in each quarter during the first half, and they had four players with two points each. Nothing seemed to fall for the Stallions, and they couldn’t get stops on defense. All around, the Stallions were out of sync all game long.
Ogden put the hammer down in the second half and got ahead by 34 at one point. Nothing the Stallions did seemed to do put any pressure on the Tigers. Eventually the Stallions got some rhythm on offense, but it was far too late.
The Stallions will face Bear River in game two of a four-game home stand on Feb. 8, while the Ogden Tigers go back home to face Tooele.
