WEST VALLEY CITY — A West Valley City man awakened last week to the surprise act of his female companion cuffing his wrist to her's with a pair of novelty handcuffs.
Then, according to court documents filed this week in 3rd District Court, he noticed she was holding a black, double-sided knife with which she threatened to cut his throat.
The Jan. 26 incident quickly got worse after she tried to cut his wrist, stabbed him on the top of his left hand and bit him on the thumb.
In a statement to police, the man said the woman was "irrational and appeared to be suffering from (some) sort of delusion."
After she bit him, court documents say she tried to drag him toward the bathroom. As he pulled away from her, the toy handcuffs broke apart. He was able to run out of the apartment and call police. Officer said he suffered a deep, 1-inch long cut on his left hand and had a bite mark on his right thumb.
The woman was charged with felony aggravated assault and interfering with arrest after police say she fought officers' attempts to handcuff her.
