Retiring BYU head swim coach Tim Powers was featured on today's edition of SwimmingWorldMagazine.com's "The Morning Swim Show."
"My wife and I would love to serve a mission for our church, and we want to do it while our health is still good and we still have a lot of energy, and so the timing felt right on this," Powers said of his retirement and preparing to serve a Mormon mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Powers, who is finishing up his 37th season, spoke with host Peter Busch about how he became the head swim coach at BYU, his goals for the remainder of the season and his decision to retire.
"It's always a little bit bittersweet, you know," Powers said. "It's something that we've kind of planned for, and at the same time it's hard to believe that 37 years have gone by so quickly."
