SALT LAKE CITY — A man who said he was trying to make his live-in companion "move faster" was charged Monday in 3rd District Court after he threatened to go after her with a machete.
A third-degree felony charge of aggravated assault was filed against Khamla Inthavong, 35, of West Jordan, stemming on allegations arising from a Jan. 22 dispute with the woman.
Police indicated that the woman was hit in the face and head repeatedly and kicked in the stomach during the confrontation. The charging document said he threatened to stab her with a machete and struck the closet door with the weapon. At some point during the incident, she blacked out. He told officers he used the machete to "make her move faster," according to the charges.
A class B misdemeanor of criminal mischief was also filed against the man stemming from damage to property in the residence.
