SALT LAKE CITY — Republican delegates in Utah House District 52 have elected a conservative political activist to fill a vacancy in the Legislature.
Dan McCay, of Riverton, beat out five other candidates Thursday to replace Rep. Carl Wimmer, R-Herriman, who resigned to run for Congress. His appointment is subject to approval by the governor.
McCay earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Utah State University and a law degree from Willamette University in Oregon. He currently works for land developer PRI. He has been affiliated with the national conservative organization FreedomWorks for the past 10 years and serves as its Utah coordinator.
McCay and his wife Tawnee are the parents of four children.
