SALT LAKE CITY — Women's Ski Jumping USA president and former Salt Lake City mayor Deedee Corradini has been named as one of "21 Leaders for the 21st Century."
The recognition came Thursday from Women's eNews, a media organization covering female related issues around the world. The publication praises Corradini for her work on gender-equality in sports and her fight to get women ski jumpers included in the Olympic Winter Games.
Corradini lobbied members of the International Ski Federation and the International Olympic Committee, among others, to include women in the sport. She was also the first female mayor of Salt Lake City and was recently named as president of the International Women's Forum, which has advanced women's leadership around the globe since 1982 and in 26 countries today.
Corradini, who said her life of advocacy was shaped partly from her youth experiences of living in Lebanon and Syria, is named as one of seven women leaders who "engender ballots," a category of the "21 Leaders" annual recognition.
