OGDEN — A 35-year-old Ogden man was arrested Monday in connection with the death of his girlfriend's infant daughter.
Jeremy David Marshall was booked into the Weber County Jail for investigation of homicide in the death of the 3-month-old girl, Ogden Police Lt. Mike Ashment said.
Around 10 a.m. on Dec. 14, firefighters responded to reports of a medical issue at a home on the 2600 block of Van Buren Avenue.
"They found a 3-month-old infant that was in medical duress," Ashment said, declining to provide details as to the child's injuries or how they may have been caused.
The girl was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital, where the decision was made to transport her by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center. Ashment said the infant died there later that same day.
Police are awaiting reports from the state Medical Examiner's office as to the cause of the baby's death. Ashment would not say whether the girl's mother was a person of interest in the case and did not know the pair's relationship history.
"It's still an ongoing investigation," he said. "There was probable cause to make the arrest yesterday and so we did so, but we're still waiting for more information. … There's still a lot to do."
The Weber County Attorney's Office will make the final decision whether to file charges and what those charges will be.
